Micro-needling Therapy also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), and Percutaneous (through the skin) Collagen Induction (PCI), is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure using a medical grade micro-needling pen designed for safe and effective treatments.
The mechanical action of the pen allows the needles to puncture the skin and create a controlled injury at a specific depth. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the bodies natural healing process to fill these micro wounds by producing new collagen and elastin in the papillary dermis. In addition, new capillaries are formed for improved blood supply.
With Micro-needling, the top layer of the skin is parted without being damaged, leaving the skin intact. It does not “burn” your skin like peels or more invasive lasers. The needle penetration depth can be adjusted from 0.25mm to 2.50mm into the skin depending on the area of the body and the skin condition being treated. Using skin needling consistently will trigger the bodies repair process until the desired level of skin rejuvenation is achieved.
Micro-needling results in the production of new collagen and elastin, improvement in skin tone and texture, firmness as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.
Micro-needling can be used in combination with Hyaluronic Acid and other serums to hydrate and heal the skin.
The micro-channels created by the needles allow for deeper penetrations of topical serums for more effective results. This procedure can increase the skins ability to utilize the nutrients by up to 3,000 %.
Dr. Stephanie uses high quality + potent Chinese Herbal Extracts that have been shown to stimulate collagen + elastin production, encourage cell turn over, and rebuild the epidermal layers.
Results are noticeable weeks after your initial treatment.
What to expect …
treatment . . .
Your treatment with Dr. Stephanie is extensive. You receive a full acupuncture treatment along with your micro- or nano-needling. This is unique to our office, and differs from any plastic surgeons office, as we also treat YOU from a constitutional view. Your skin health is a reflection of your internal health, and with acupuncture we optimize your health from all aspects - mind | body | soul
We also differ from conventional micro- or nano-needling treatments, as we do not increase our prices based on products or areas of focus. Typical treatments (30 minutes) can range from $400 to $2800 based on your add-ons. Dr. Stephanie will provide you with what you need.
results . . .
Everyone has different results, just as everyone has a different skin health presentation. Your skin will glow and look amazing the days after your treatment. As your skin cells repair and regrow - producing more elastin + collagen - these results become more apparent after 28 days. Because you see yourself every day, and know all your flaws, Dr. Stephanie will take a before + after picture for your records. This allows you to see the changes in your skin.
Treatments are recommended monthly, but can also be done weekly for rapid results.

FAQ
Does it hurt?
It can. Depending on the depth of the needle pen, it can sting. Dr. Stephanie does apply a numbing cream prior to the treatment. Some areas are more tender than others (forehead vs cheeks). The depth can always be adjusted.
Is there down time?
No. It is very common for the skin to be red after your treatment. It will feel warm, almost like a sunburn. Sun + outdoor activities should be avoided for the day of treatment. Micro-needling does penetrate the dermis, and leave you vulnerable to potential infection without proper post-care.
Which treatment should I choose?
If you want to work on repairing + restoring, micro-needling is your choice. If you want to maintain + support, nano-needling is sufficient. For active acne, this needs to be resolved prior to treatments. Please schedule a complimentary consultation to discuss which one is right for you.
I’m pregnant, can I get this treatment?
No. These treatments are not advised during pregnancy. Dr. Stephanie advises that you allow yourself 2-3 months post-partum to pursue this treatment.
