Five Elements TCM

When it comes to treating dis-ease, as acupuncturists and doctors of Chinese medicine we can often reach areas that conventional medicine doesn’t even consider

We assess based on 8 principles

yin|yang :: what is the nature of presentation?

deficiency|excess :: what is interrupting the normal physiological function?

cold|heat :: what is the temperature of the presentation?

interior|exterior :: where is the issue located?

Taking this approach to dis-ease, we are able to assess what is happening to YOU; not a blanket diagnosis, not an average of a big demographic;

These 8 principles give us insight into YOU

We further diagnose your dis-ease by looking at your tongue + feeling your pulse

This is a unique approach to gaining insight into your health presentation + is another way we select our treatment protocol for you

From looking at your tongue, an acupuncturist and doctor of Chinese medicine, can see if you have anxiety, a restless night of sleep, fatigue, digestive issues, and even if you will start your period

From your pulse we gather insight into the quality of your overall health. Where do we nourish, where do we sedate.

The treatment then offered, is solely based on YOU

When it comes to assessing health according to TCM, we explore 12 primary organ systems + their function in relationship to one another

Each organ system has their own unique function, yet works harmoniously with the others

In imbalances, they effect the proper function of each other, leaving us with dis-ease presentations unique to the organ systems

These organ systems work as a whole, and need to be treated as a whole

The TCM organ systems can be associated with a specific season, element, taste, hour, tissue, + much more

Each organ system a unique physiological function + presents in unique dysfunction

These organ systems will be highlighted with their season, in our future posts, + the first one in this new approach to our blog posts is the LUNG
